Artist's Comments

Have you ever wanted to simultaneously drop dead from fear, and take a decent photo? *points up* I have!

This was the only one of the many photos I took of this spider to turn out. All the rest were blurry, likely because I was shaking. =P

Holy crap thats awesome! This almost looks like its digital art, just cause I would never expect to see a spider so creepy looking and up close.

Never argue with an idiot.. They drag you down to their level then beat you with experience...

WOW! :eyepopping: beautiful shot. Nicely done.

I was shooting a big spider like that in it's web and couldn't figure out why I couldn't get it focused. When I looked it was because I had got to close. It was standing on the end of my lens. :omfg:

Nice shot! How big was he?

We have some lakes up here in California, around our wine county, that are home to some very large tarantulas; roughly 6-12cm across. When we stay there durring the summer they are often migrating across the roads... lots of em. 8-) I'll get some picks for ya next time I'm there.

That's an awesome shot.. and I know what you mean! Over the summer I found myself much too close to some insects.. but I wanted to get a picture of them so I was like '........... ok... NO sudden movements..." of course one time the wind blew the spider and the spider web closer to me and I jumped back and screamed.. but overall all is well ;)

scary... but oh so cool!!! :D :D :D :D :D i am sure that this little fella is small?? mainly cause the plant he is standin on has one mighty big stem if he is big... so cool....

I've seen that down here in So Cal too. It's a sight you just never get used to. That many BIG spiders all moving in the same direction. Not just hundreds either... thousands and thousands.
:iconwolfskin:
Not all that small. Maybe 6 centimetres long? I'm so bad with guessing lengths. =P

Thanks

Give the Insects and Spiders category some lurve.

:lmao: I had something similar happen last week, with a different spider. I kept getting closer and closer to try and improve the focus, and I was so intent on the LCD screen while taking photos, that when one preview disappeared and all I could see was blur, I actually had no idea what had happened. So I looked over the top of the camera just in time to see the spider make another charge at my camera. I did the screaming and jumping thing, too. =P
